Woolfords Wind Farm is a consented three-turbine wind farm located on approximately 27.5 hectares of open moorland used for sheep and cattle grazing.

The wind farm is expected to have an installed capacity of approximately 20MW, generating around 65,353 MWh of renewable electricity each year, enough to power the equivalent of approximately 16,715 Scottish homes.*

Since the original planning permission was granted, turbine technology has continued to advance. Larger, more efficient turbine models have become available, while some of the previously available lower tip height models are no longer being manufactured.

Increasing the maximum permitted tip height from 180 metres to 200 metres will provide greater flexibility in turbine selection, enabling the project to make better use of the available wind resource and generate more low-carbon electricity.

The planning application was submitted to South Lanarkshire Council on Wednesday 24 June 2026 and validated on Monday 13 July 2026.
